Employer:
ProBoat E-Training
Professional Expertise:
Online training manager for Professional BoatBuilder magazine. Seminar manager for IBEX.
Bio:
I have been involved in the marine industry since 1988, when I first began working part time as support staff at WoodenBoat Publications in Brooklin, Maine.

As my part-time job there evolved into a new career for me, I was able to transfer my existing skills as an administrator, a researcher, and an educator into a series of interesting jobs. There, I honed my writing ability and editing skills, learned database management, and helped to organize more than 1,000 seminars for the marine industry as part of the IBEX (www.ibexshow.com), which takes place each fall in Miami Beach.

I have been a “telecommuter” now since 1993, working from home to develop and manage new programs for Professional BoatBuilder magazine.

Most recently, I have been investigating new ways to expand the educational services now offered by ProBoat E-Training (www.ProBoatE-Training.com), and I am chair of the planning committee for COMITT 2008 (www.COMITT.org), a conference for marine-industry technical training..
Location:
Delray Beach, Florida

Starting A Blog

Several people at COMITT said they wanted to start writing a blog. This might be a good place to start! Another way is to READ more blogs **and** to leave comments. That helps writers get over the initial fear of posting thoughts and ideas on the Internet. Go for it!

I will keep checking in on discussions and see if I can get a few more to join. I am looking for people who would want to work on revising a "career ladder" that I started a while ago.

Hi there! I accidentally left a comment for myself. Great! In any event - glad you liked the pix. I have a few of my favorites as well - but think they all turned out well! - Nice to see everything in action!

Hello BJ. I got that email you sent about getting people more involved with the communications post-COMITT. I am not sure what I can do to help...so I am open to suggestions. I guess I am so used to email that I have never gotten into blogging communications, but I can try!

Yes indeed, embedding a widget is different from what we are used to.

Good to hear from you too. It seems we only have a few minutes when we run into each other at places IBEX -- never enough time to get caught up. I have been following COMITT since its formation and am impressed with the progress being made after years of industry talk about the need for technical training. Keep up the good work! I hope to attend an upcoming conference.
