I am the Principal Training Designer at Ken Cook Co. In that capacity I mentor a staff of training developers. We develop technical communications material for our clients. For example, if our client’s training staff is stretched thin and needs help in developing training materials we can help them develop and deliver the materials. We do not have the personnel to deliver instructor-led training but we develop curriculum and associated materials. These materials include a facilitator’s guide, trainee workbooks as well as visual aids such as a video. We can also package the materials on a CD / DVD for a self-directed, interactive training environment. Our Learning Management System (LMS) can be used to host and track the self-directed programs online.
Bio:
I was awarded a BS degree from the University of Wisconsin. Studies included an emphasis in biology, physics, chemistry, nuclear physics, mathematics and engineering.
I have been active in all phases of instructional design, technical writing and editing for over 25 years. I developed several operator and service safety training programs for Bobcat Company, Landoll Corporation, Altec® Industries, Inc., Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) and Caterpillar. The Bobcat Service Safety Training Course for Bobcat Skid Steer Loaders won an Award of Excellence from the Society for Technical Communication.
The training that I developed included paper-based instructor-led training, video-based instructor-led training, CBT training for both instructor-led and self-directed delivery via CD-ROM and online self-directed and instructor-led training. I have also developed training that is delivered via a Learning Management System (LMS). Ken Cook Co. is developing their own LMS to offer web-based LMS services to our clients.
Other projects included developing a series of texts (VCTM) that are used for training Volvo Certified Automotive Service Technicians in North America. In addition I developed documentation from scratch for Volvo GM Heavy Truck on Chassis Dynamometer Testing and developed hydraulic pressure testing documentation for McNeilus Companies. I also received the Society for Technical Communication’s (STC) Best-in-Show award for a training text on hydraulic systems developed for Bobcat Company.
I have been active in the STC, the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) and AEM. I serve on the AEM Training Committee.
I was awarded Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) credential by ASTD. This is a two part examination. This first part is a 150 question test on my knowledge of the model that ASTD developed called the ASTD Competency Model™. The second part required me to submit work product for evaluation by the ASTD Certification Institute.
I am the Vice President of Communications for the Southeast Wisconsin Chapter of ASTD. My term starts January 1, 2008 and runs through the end of 2008.

Thanks Stacy. Let me know if you need any help with training development. We do provide instructor-led, self-directed training development and are able to deliver training in an LMS environment.
