COMITT at IBEX 2008

We are planning to have the next COMITT fairly soon -- in October, in fact, at IBEX in Miami Beach. The plan now is to have a COMITT day on Sunday October 5, during the "pre-conference" and follow-up later in the week with a luncheon or networking event. And of course, there will be several seminars of interest during IBEX itself. What do you think we should have for activities on Oct. 5? I'm fairly sure that I can talk David Veech into doing more networking with us, if that's what people want. Let's start brainstorming now.

I think that is a great idea since more boat builders could network with COMITT and thus augment the terrific work that we have already started.

David did a great job moderating the networking sessions. Having open discussion of ideas was a great benefit to the group!

ProBoat is also thinking of offering a "track" of six seminars of interest to people working in the fields of marine training, education, and employment. If we have our own day of networking and targeted meetings, followed by those seminars for those who want to take them, we'll have quite a conference-within-the-conference. When I know what the seminar topics are, I will post them here for comments & suggestions.

If MITEC is able to complete the survey that Steve mentioned they are working on, the pre-conference session at IBEX might be a good venue for the presentation of that data. This could give something for the industry to think about over a couple days before the networking event later in the week. If MITEC needs more industry support, I believe that IBEX will be a good place to hold the next COMITT.
