You should have a means to check fuel system vaccuum. Other than that, the engine is diagnosed through software and an interface with a laptop computer. Attending a factory school would teach you to use these tools to systematically troubleshoot the fuel and ignition systems. These days we are seeing far more fuel system issues than ignition issues. Most of those are caused by lack of proper maintenance where ethanol is used in gasoline.
